CarbonPure Adsorption Systems
A Proven, High-Efficiency, Cost-Effective Solution to Control Gas-Phase Contaminants such as VOCs and Odors and Recover Solvents
High-Efficiency Adsorption
With typical surface areas of 900-1,400 square meters per gram, APC Technologies’ activated carbon provides an exceptionally high degree of contact between contaminated gases and the trapping carbon bed. CarbonPure systems control and recover VOCs with efficiencies up to 99%+. APC systems also utilize other, non-carbon adsorbents, as tailored to each application.
Broad Range of Applications
APC’s CarbonPure systems provide high-efficiency removal of gas-phase contaminants such as VOCs, sulfurous compounds, and odors, and are particularly suited for air streams with lower contaminant concentrations.
Applications for CarbonPure systems include asphalt plants, bacterial contamination control, chemical plants, coatings, electronic parts manufacture, food processing, furniture manufacture, groundwater stripping, indoor air quality, waste incinerators (all types), metal fabrication, painting, pharmaceuticals, plastics, polymers and resin manufacture, printing, rendering, roofing materials, rubber parts, tire buffing, waste water treatment plants and more.
Pre-Filter Extends Carbon Life
In cases where fine particulate or aerosol are present, exhaust gases are first drawn through APC’s exclusive Ultra High Efficiency Filter (UHF™) unit. This filter removes all fine solid- and liquid-phase contaminants from the gas stream, ensuring high-efficiency adsorption performance and greatly extending the life of the activated carbon bed.
Solvent Recovery with Steam Regeneration
When solvent recovery is desired, the saturated carbon bed can be regenerated with steam. After the steam has cleaned the bed, solvents are separated from the steam via condensation and then recycled back to process. Solvent recovery can provide savings that exceed the operating costs of the system, providing a return on investment.
Solvent Destruction by Inert Gas
When solvent recovery is not appropriate or feasible, the activated carbon can be regenerated by hot flue gas. VOCs in the exhaust air from the regeneration process are oxidized in a small fume oxidizer. Since there is a high solvent concentration in this exhaust air, no additional fuel is typically required for the oxidation process. This approach can reduce system operating costs by as much as 90% when compared to direct thermal incineration. Low operating costs make CarbonPure systems one of the most economical pollution control systems on the market.
Proven Through Performance
CarbonPure systems have a proven record of reliability and consistent performance across a variety of industrial applications and demanding environments.
