Plastic and Resin Industries Emission ControlAPC has successfully addressed emissions from a broad variety of plants in the plastic and resin industries including at rigid packaging, flexible packaging, resin production, pultruded products, foam products, thermoplastic roofing, specialty film and sheet, and other plants. Processes that emit air pollutants at such plants include extrusion dies, extruder vents, pultrusion dies, vacuum pump exhausts, pastillator belts, extrusion coating, lamination, mixing and process tanks, and spray application processes.

Pollutants controlled at such plants have included visible emissions/opacity, fine mist/smoke, odors, volatile organic compounds (VOCs), fine particulate matter, and condensed fumes. When present, condensed fumes/smoke can behave as liquid particulate/mist, solid particulate or, most commonly, a state between liquid and solid.

For control of the visible emissions/opacity and fine liquid/solid/semi-solid particulate, and condensed fumes from these sources, APC uses its unique UHF® Filter technology. The UHF® Filter technology is ideal for the sticky, oily, liquid or solid-behaving condensed fumes emitted from these sources, as it is designed to not plug up or blind off when used to treat such emissions. APC’s UHF® Filter systems are higher performing, substantially less expensive, and much less maintenance than competing options, and provide operators with the ability to perform media changeouts without shutting down the process. For control of odors and VOCs, APC most commonly uses an activated carbon vessel that contains an activated carbon media tailored for the type of gaseous contaminants present.  The UHF® Filter unit is typically an indispensable pre-filter upstream of the carbon bed to prevent the carbon media from getting coated by the condensed fumes and thereby requiring frequent media bed replacement.
