MercPure Mercury Control Systems
For mercury removal from gas streams, APC offers two types of mercury control systems:
MercPure Fixed Bed (FB) Systems
APC’s MercPure Fixed Bed (FB Series) systems provide the highest removal efficiencies for mercury emissions (99.9%+), using fixed adsorption beds of specialty activated carbon media tailored for the application. These systems are delivering Owner compliance with the most stringent new regulations on mercury emissions in the USA and elsewhere.
MercPure Powdered Activated Carbon (PAC) Systems
APC’s MercPure powdered activated carbon (PAC Series) injection systems include carbon metering and injection systems, gas/sorbent mixing sections, interconnecting ductwork and tubing, and downstream fabric filter (if not already in place) to deliver mid to high removal efficiencies (up to 95% typically).
Proven Solution for Wide Range of Applications
- Mercury emission removal efficiencies by APC MercPure FB systems are commonly in the range of 99.9% and higher as measured by Owner compliance testing.
- APC’s systems ensure that the carbon bed is protected from particulate and moisture fouling, greatly extending carbon bed life and allowing continuous mercury control at high efficiency. Multiple customers have carbon beds lasting 10 years or longer.
- APC has activated carbon media to address both low and high-temperature exhaust gas streams. APC is media-independent and will select the best media available on the market for the application considering cost, performance, and bed life.
- MercPure PAC Series Systems also work on both low and high-temperature exhausts and are ideal for larger gas flow rates, where fixed carbon beds are less practical, or where a baghouse is already in place or planned.
APC Serves the City of St. Louis on One of the Largest Biosolids Project in North American History
In 2023 APC was awarded a multi-million-dollar contract to design and fabricate six (6) comprehensive mercury, dioxins/furans, and volatile organic compound (VOC) control systems for the six new biosolids processing facilities being designed and constructed by the St. Louis Metropolitan Sewer District (MSD) in Lemay and Bissell Point, Missouri. These six APC systems are scheduled to be delivered during 2025.

Municipal Wastewater Treatment Plant Sewage Sludge Incineration
Multiple mercury, dioxins/furans, HAPs/VOCs, and particulate removal systems for emissions from SSIs located throughout the USA. All systems have operating continuously and successfully since start-up.
Gold Processing
Two mercury control systems for emissions related to gold processing in the Northern USA. One process is an activated carbon kiln. The second is for electrowinning cells and other emissions. Both systems have been operating successfully since 2013.
